Here we present the results of the Tab4Building project, prepared as Outputs.

OUTPUT 1 - PROFESSIONAL PROFILE MAP
Composite materials in general and Fibre-reinforced Plastics in particular gain growing importance in the construction sector. As some of their specificities help to improve the carbon footprint in construction and enhance the life cycle of buildings, Fibre-reinforced Plastics (FRP) are more and more used. At the same time, the application is often hampered by a lack of qualified labour. This is true both for the planning and for the operational part of the work. Formal educational institutions often cannot react fast enough to new trends and technologies, so that even qualified labour sometimes does not bring the necessary skills and competences.

In order to help the construction industry to find the requested competences, a concise overview of knowledge, skills and competences (KSC) related to the use of FRP is needed, which is currently missing. At the beginning of the project, a brief overview of the knowledge, skills and competences (KSCs) related to the use of the FRP was made. The mapping of occupational profiles produced by the project partners provides such an overview at European and national level. It was done on the basis of interviews with professional experts and stakeholders that were conducted in Greece Spain, Slovenia and Poland.  The document is in English.

OUTPUT 2 AND OUTPUT 3 - TRAINING METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS AND TRAINING CONTENTS / MOODLE

To promote the introduction of FRP materials in the construction the partnership of the project has identified the need to focus in two different target groups that are in the core of the value chain of the construction industry: architects – civil engineers and building construction workers. Architects – civil engineers design building construction works, while building construction workers are in charge of implementing construction works. Both targets are key in the introduction of FRP.  A methodology was developed that lets to act in the whole value chain of the industry and on both targets identified through a Project Based Learning methodology (PBL) in which each student has their own learning path following the competences required to its profile, but with the opportunity to interact and solve a common project with other students and between both involved professions.

The result pursued was to achieve a real cooperation between both profiles and establish a real communication that let understand each other and help to improve the language of the training and the communication with both agents.

In the TAB4Building project, we have developed content and a Moodle web tool where you can access informative content on the production and use of FRP materials in the construction sector through 4 content chapters (Modules). The course was prepared at two levels: Level 1 intended for construction workers, while both levels for architects and civil engineers.  The Moodle tool can be accessed by filling in the form on the website. We will send you a username and password which you can use to access the content. We look forward to hearing from you! All questions and comments can be sent to our email zgigm@gzs.si .
